In case you haven’t noticed, the United States isn’t doing so well at the moment. Things are apparently so dire, in fact, that Snoop Dogg, possibly the chillest man alive, feels the need to take action.
In a recent interview on the Real 92.3 radio show Big Boy’s Neighborhood, the rapper said he plans to vote in the 2020 presidential election this November in what will mark his first-ever trip to the polls.
“I ain’t never voted a day in my life, but this year I think I’m going to get out and vote,” he said, seeming to attribute his newfound political ambition to a reluctance to see the current president win a second term. “I can’t stand to see this punk in office one more year,” he said.
The rapper also suggested that his previous political inactivity was due in part to the belief that he was prohibited from voting due to felony convictions in 1990 and 2007.
“For many years they had me brainwashed thinking that you couldn’t vote because you had a criminal record,” he sad. “I didn’t know that. My record’s been expunged so now I can vote.”
Snoop encouraged others to follow his lead, adding that he plans to practice what he preaches. “We got to make a difference, I can’t talk about it and not be about it,” he said. “I can’t tell you to do it and then not go do it. If I tell you to do something, I done it already.”
