After officially being booted from the Monday Night Football booth over the weekend along with his broadcast partner Joe Tessitore, Booger McFarland is already ready to get back in the game at ESPN.

Speaking with The New York Post, the 42-year-old said that he isn’t exactly sure what his role will be at ESPN but that he has years remaining on his contract and isn’t “going anywhere.”

Before he was officially removed from the MNF booth, there was rampant speculation McFarland would be replaced with everyone from Tony Romo to Peyton Manning to Drew Brees. The former NFL defensive tackle told The Post that he didn’t let the replacement talk get to him.

“For me, the constant speculation was not that big of a deal,” McFarland said. “Would you like not to have it? Sure, come on, man. That’s human nature. Did it affect me or bother me one iota? Not really. I never looked to get the job. It was just one of those things that the opportunity came up.”

According to The Post, McFarland will likely move into a role as a studio host at ESPN. When that happens, perhaps he’ll be able to use what happened at MNF as a positive.

“You go through your growing pains and the only way you grow through them is on the job,” McFarland said. “It happens to be one of those jobs that you have to do it in front of 15 million people. It was a good experience. I don’t have anything bad to say about Monday Night. Obviously, it is one of the top jobs, if not the top job, in the industry. Overall, regardless of the outcome, it was a very good experience.”
