Alex Trebek’s ongoing candor about his 2019 cancer diagnosis and his health struggles since then has been thoroughly moving to observe. If Trebek wasn’t already a hero to many, his dignity when confronting his own mortality has been something uniquely powerful to watch. Now, it seems as though occasional video updates aren’t the only way Trebek will be sharing the story of his life and what he’s learned about himself. At Vulture, Devon Ivie reports that Trebek has a memoir on the way — and it will be available for purchase in July.
Titled The Answer Is…: Reflections on My Life, Trebek’s memoir will be released on July 21 by publisher Simon & Schuster. “In addition to detailing his cancer battle, Trebek will write about his marriage, success, and spirituality,” Ivie notes.
His publisher’s page for Trebek’s memoir has more details — including what Trebek thinks of a particularly infamous impression of him from years past:
Trebek also addresses the questions he gets asked most often by Jeopardy! fans, such as what prompted him to shave his signature mustache, his insights on legendary players like Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer, and his opinion of Will Ferrell’s Saturday Night Live impersonation.
In keeping with Jeopardy!‘s structure, the memoir’s chapter titles will be phrased in the form of a question. It’s difficult to imagine a memoir by Trebek being structured any other way.
