As 2019 enters its final days, college football’s bowl season is just getting started. For 2019, it kicked off on December 20th, and runs until January 2020. Bowl season offers some iconic match-ups between some of the nation’s best college teams, as well as the College Football Playoff, which will bring the season to a close.

We’ll be keeping track of the results for bowl season as they come in. If you’re looking for a place to keep an eye on how your favorite team, alma mater or most-loathed squad is doing, look no further.

January 13

College Football Playoff National Championship Game:
LSU (ranked #1) 42, Clemson (ranked #3) 25
En route to a national championship, LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase set a College Football Playoff receiving record with a total of 221 for the night. Throw in a pair of touchdowns and you have a sense of what kind of game it was — one where two strong teams met, battling it out until one took a convincing lead. Clemson was initially up 17-7 in the 2nd quarter. Then LSU scored 21 more before the half, capping off a fantastic night from quarterback Joe Burrow, who set a few records of his own.

January 11

FCS Championship Game: North Dakota State 28, James Madison 20
In a dramatic game, North Dakota State extended their unbeaten streak to 37 games — and won their 3rd straight FCS national title along the way. James Hendricks’s interception of a late-game James Madison pass nixed James Madison’s push to even the score — a thrilling ending to a closely-matched game.

January 6

LendingTree Bowl: Louisiana 27, Miami (Ohio) 17
Quarterback Levi Lewis led Louisiana to their first bowl game win since 2014 at the LendingTree Bowl — which also happened to cap a historically successful season for the program. Head coach Billy Napier also chalked up his first win in a bowl game. All told, Louisiana had plenty to celebrate when the game came to an end.

January 4

Armed Forces Bowl: Tulane 30, Southern Miss 13
Southern Miss took an early lead in this year’s Armed Forces Bowl — within 10 minutes, they led by a commanding-looking 13-0. Unfortunately for them, that would be all that they would score in the game. Tulane went on to rack up 30 points over the rest of the game on their way to an impressive win.

January 3

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Ohio 30, Nevada 21
In perhaps the best-named bowl game of the entirety of the season, Ohio took an early lead and held off a late surge from Nevada to win this year’s Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Several Nevada starters were suspended for the game, making for an even more unexpected atmosphere.

January 2

Birmingham Bowl: Cincinnati (ranked #21) 38, Boston College 6
The local weather conditions weren’t ideal for a football game — including multiple delays due to lightning — but Cincinnati made the most of their game en route to victory in the Birmingham Bowl. It capped off their second straight 11-win season.

Gator Bowl: Tennessee 23, Indiana 22
An impressive 4th quarter from Tennessee resulted in a close victory in this year’s Gator Bowl. They entered the final quarter behind by 10 points, but outscored Indiana 14-3, finalizing a solid season and laying the groundwork for what’s to come.

January 1

Citrus Bowl: Alabama (ranked #13) 35, Michigan (ranked #14) 16
At the end of the first half of this year’s Citrus Bowl, Michigan was up with a slim lead over Alabama, 16-14. Unfortunately, those 16 points would be all they would score in the game; with a dominant second half, Alabama emerged as winners.

Outback Bowl: Minnesota (ranked #18) 31, Auburn (ranked #12) 24
Propelled by an outstanding game from wide receiver Tyler Johnson, including a stunning touchdown catch, Minnesota defeated Auburn in the Outback Bowl. Johnson’s catch also set a career-spanning program record for touchdown receptions — a memorable flourish for an impressive game.

Rose Bowl: Oregon (ranked #6) 28, Wisconsin (ranked #8) 27
This closely matched game between Oregon and Wisconsin played out as one might have expected: the two teams alternated the lead, and when the (metaphorical) smoke cleared, it was Oregon who won by all of a point, making the most of a late surge.

Sugar Bowl: Georgia (ranked #5) 26, Baylor (ranked #7) 14
Georgia got off to an early lead in this Sugar Bowl matchup, with Baylor scoring all 14 of their points in the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately, that was all they would score: Georgia held on for the victory. In one alarming moment, Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer left the game in the 4th quarter with a neck injury.

December 31

Belk Bowl: Kentucky 37, Virginia Tech 30
For much of the 2019 Belk Bowl, Virginia Tech maintained a close lead over Kentucky. Then came the 4th quarter. Kentucky rallied and took the lead to bring the game to a close. After some tense moments before the game had even begun, it made for a thrilling game for numerous reasons.

Sun Bowl: Arizona State 20, Florida State 14
The 2019 Sun Bowl opened with an array of bizarre plays, including a fumble, an interception and a blocked field goal — all within the first 6 minutes of the game. Things eventually stabilized, making for a close game where Arizona State emerged on top.

Liberty Bowl: Navy 20, Kansas State 17
Led by a record-setting performance from quarterback Malcolm Perry, Navy defeated Kansas State in a close game at this year’s Liberty Bowl. As the score suggests, the two teams were evenly matched, making for one of the most competitive games of 2019’s bowl season.

Arizona Bowl: Wyoming 38, Georgia State 17
By the end of the first quarter of the 2019 Arizona Bowl, Wyoming were off to a solid lead; they never relinquished it over the course of the rest of the game. Quarterback Levi Williams, making his first start of the season, passed for 3 touchdowns and scored another one rushing — suggesting a bright future for the freshman.

Alamo Bowl: Texas 38, Utah (ranked #11) 10
As upsets go, Texas’s win in this year’s Alamo Bowl certainly qualifies as a big one. Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger capped off a fantastic season with his play on the field in this game, throwing 3 touchdown passes and carrying another one himself.

December 30

First Responder Bowl: Western Kentucky 23, Western Michigan 20
Some games come down to the final seconds. The 2019 First Responder Bowl took that a step further and came down to the final second. Western Kentucky’s Cory Munson kicked a 52-yard field goal in the game’s final moments to lead his team to victory.

Music City Bowl: Louisville 38, Mississippi State 28
This year’s Music City Bowl began strongly for Mississippi State, who took an early 14-0 lead in the game. Then Louisville scored 31 unanswered points to take the lead, which they never relinquished — leading to a disappointing game for Mississippi State players and fans alike.

Redbox Bowl: California 35, Illinois 20
It’s been several years since California last won a bowl game — since the 2015 season, to be exact — but they did exactly that in the 2019 Redbox Bowl. California’s Chase Garbers chalked up a total of 5 touchdowns during the game, including one rushing touchdown.

Orange Bowl: Florida (ranked #9) 36, Virginia (ranked #24) 28
Florida running back Lamical Perine had an excellent game in this year’s Orange Bowl, including 3 of his team’s touchdowns. Virginia squandered a few chances along the way to even up the game; all told, the game was a fine cap to Florida’s first 11-win season in 7 years.

December 28

College World Bowl: Notre Dame (ranked #15) 33, Iowa State 9
In what was anticipated to be a close contest, Notre Dame emerged victorious over Iowa State in Florida’s College World Bowl. In the end, the results went Notre Dame’s way, finishing off a solid season for the Fighting Irish.

Cotton Bowl: Penn State (ranked #10) 53, Memphis (ranked #17) 39
This year’s Cotton Bowl set a new record: it was the highest-scoring Cotton Bowl in history, with both teams’ offenses having tremendous days. Penn State also set a record for their highest point total in a bowl game, capping off their victory.

Peach Bowl: LSU (ranked #1) 63, Oklahoma (ranked #4) 28
LSU played a dominant game in this College Football Playoff semifinal matchup. Along the way, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow and his teammates, including Justin Jefferson, set a number of records on their way to a championship berth.

Fiesta Bowl: Clemson (ranked #3) 29, Ohio State (ranked #2) 23
In the day’s other College Football Playoff semifinal, Clemson emerged victorious over Ohio State in a close game. Ohio State began with a 16-0 lead, but ultimately couldn’t hold onto it; instead, it’s Clemson who will be headed to the national championship.
