These All-Electric Vintage Scooters Give Us Hope for the Future

In the words of the man who patented the original Cezeta scooter in Czechoslovakia in 1940: “It is when we look to the future as we remember the past.”

Now, more than 75 years later, J.F. Koch’s words ring truer than ever, as evidenced by his company’s new all-electric Cezeta 506 range of bikes.

The electric scooters have the same distinctive steel monocoque body type that Cezeta used on its classic 501s and 502s in the ’50s and ’60s, except here they’ve swapped out bulky fuel tanks and engines for electric motors that give the bikes a range of approximately 125 miles and a top speed of 70 MPH.

The scooters — powered by Panasonic batteries with built-in chargers that can work with most wall sockets — also feature modern touches like hydraulic brakes, LED-filled underbellies and smartphone charging docks.

Each 506 is guaranteed for three years (though Cezeta claims they’ll last for five decades) and deliveries of the customizable scooters are set to commence worldwide in the fall.

In addition to flawless construction, Cezeta also values giveaways, so we suggest trying to win a 506 for free.
