The Manhattan mansion where Jeffrey Epstein is alleged to have raped young girls and women may soon be on the market. The lavish Upper East Side property is reportedly being cleaned out in an attempt to scrub the building of “every vestige” of the late pedophile before it goes up for sale, Page Six reported.
“The property will be completely wiped of his existence,” a source told the outlet. “That is the only way the mansion will retain any value for sale.”
The estate has reportedly appointed a caretaker to oversee the property, where contractors are rumored to be breaking down any remaining Epstein possessions that had not already been seized by authorities as evidence.
“You won’t see dumpsters outside the mansion filled with Epstein’s stuff,” said the source. “It will be broken down inside the property and discreetly removed in the dead of night, almost as if he’d never been there.”
The seven-floor, $56 million mansion at 9 E. 71st St. once bore Epstein’s initials in black by the door, but those have since disappeared following his death in August. Legal experts suggest the estate may be looking to sell the property in order to offset a slew of upcoming civil suits.
“I don’t think it is in anyone’s interest to let the house sit empty and wither,” a legal expert told Page Six.
