Ronan Farrow’s much anticipated book, Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators, hits shelves October 15, and according to Page Six, NBC is bracing itself for the fallout from the book’s anticipated allegations involving the network.
The new release, one of our top picks for October, is expected to reveal more information about NBC’s former Today anchor Matt Lauer, who was fired back in 2017 for inappropriate sexual encounters with a fellow staffer. According to Page Six, the book is expected to feature interviews with several more accusers, and it has also been reported that Ronan’s new book will reveal the identity of Lauer’s original accuser for the first time.
While the new release is expected to be a hot topic among other news outlets, with an industry insider telling Page Six that “the book will dominate the news cycle for several days,” the NBC newsroom is reportedly less excited about the forthcoming release. “They’re bracing for bombshells,” a source told Page Six.
Lauer, for his part, has denied the allegations, stating, “I want to make it perfectly clear that any allegations or reports of coercive, aggressive or abusive actions on my part, at any time, are absolutely false.”
NBC execs have declined to comment ahead of the release.
