Hot off of her big Emmy night — in which she took home Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Fleabag won Outstanding Comedy Series — Phoebe Waller-Bridge has signed a big overall deal with Amazon Studios to continue developing new projects for them.
The deal is good news for Fleabag fans upset about Bridge’s decision to end the series after two seasons on Amazon’s Prime Video. “I’m insanely excited to be continuing my relationship with Amazon,” Waller-Bridge said in a statement. “Working with the team on Fleabag was the creative partnership dreams are made of. It really feels like home. I can’t wait to get going!”
Fleabag took home six Emmys total, including two Creative Arts awards. “We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Phoebe at Amazon Studios,” Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said. “As evident in her great success at the Emmy Awards this week, she is clever, brilliant, generous and a virtuoso on multiple fronts including writing, acting and producing. Fleabag has been a gift to our Prime Video customers and we are excited for what comes next from this brilliant mind to dazzle and delight our global audience.”
Waller-Bridge also created and executive produces BBC America’s Killing Eve (for which Jodie Comer took home Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series on Sunday night) and executive produces HBO’s upcoming Run, which stars Merritt Weaver and Domhnall Gleeson.
