If you’re one of the Americans sticking with the sedan in the midst of the SUV boom, it can seem like you’re driving a toy car in a field of tanks. Rezvani wants to take that concept and make it literal.
This week, Rezvani unveiled its newest model: the Tank X. The company is calling it an “off-road supercar” and has the specs to back it up, what with a claimed 1,000 horsepower and on-demand four-wheel drive. But as CNET reports, they also want you to consider it as your next daily driver.
While the hefty starting price tag of $349K and potentially unwelcome military styling (that is, when dropping off your kids at school) make that an unlikely prospect, a look underneath shows it’s not so different from other cars you know and love. For example, the engine is the same one you’ll find in a Dodge Challenger Demon — a 6.2-liter supercharged V8. And the base is none other than the ubiquitous Jeep Wrangler. As CNET writes, once the Wrangler is in its possession, “Rezvani carries out its typical over-the-top approach and redesigns it with new body panels that, according to the company, take cues from military vehicles.”
The body panels aren’t the only military accoutrement. As with the Rezvani Tank released back in 2017, the X model comes with a thermal and night vision system. If that’s not ridiculous enough for you, Rezvani also offers a “Military Edition” which features upgrades like an EMP protection shield, bulletproof glass and run-flat tires. Those upgrades can most likely be added here, for the right price.
If this is exactly the kind of SUV you’ve been searching for, Rezvani will happily take your order now. But once it gets delivered, don’t blame us if your neighbors start hiding every time you roll out of the garage.
