For the second week in a row, former Masters winner Sergio Garcia has not played the Gentleman’s Game like a gentleman.
Garcia, who donned the green jacket after winning the 2017 Masters and has been the runner-up at the PGA Championship twice (1999, 2008), was caught on camera tossing his club at his caddie after hitting a poor tee shot at Royal Portrush during the final round of the Open Championship last weekend.
Adding insult to injury, the caddie just happened to be his brother, Victor.

Despite getting lambasted by pundits and social-media users for his poor behavior and lack of composure, Garcia was unable to contain himself during the third round of the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in Memphis over the weekend. A video which was taken at the tee box shows Garcia hacking at the ground with his driver after a wayward tee shot, kicking up a large divot in the process.
This is far from the first time the 39-year-old has acted out on the course. His past antics have included everything from throwing his shoe into a gallery to spitting into the cup after missing a putt to tossing a club into a lake. Prior to the two most recent incidents, Garcia was disqualified from February’s Saudi International tournament for “serious misconduct” after he left at least five greens with divots and scuff marks after taking his frustrations out on the putting surfaces during the third round.
“I’ve obviously had some time to reflect, and want to again say I’m sorry to my fans and fellow competitors. What happened is not an example I want to set, and it’s not who I truly am,” Garcia wrote in an Instagram post after he was disqualified from the event in Saudi Arabia. “I am an emotional player and while I believe that’s one of my biggest strengths, it’s also one of my biggest flaws. I’m focused on working hard to channel that emotion the correct way and to be the best me, learn from it and move forward.”
