If you tell someone you’re living out of a car with a standard interior, they’ll call you a bum.
If you tell someone you’re living out of a car with an interior like this one, they’ll call you “Sir.”
Designed to reside in Volvo’s S90 Excellence, the Lounge Console Concept more closely resembles the cabin of a private jet than it does the interior of a sedan — even a luxury one.
The transformable space no longer has a front passenger seat, which allows passengers to optimize the backseat for work, entertainment or rest depending on their needs, with a centrally located control panel running the action.
Featuring a mobile work station with a fold-out table, a large screen for video conferencing or catching up on Game of Thrones, a massage seat that can recline for sleeping, an armrest refrigerator and a heating/cooling cup holder designed to hold the included hand-cut crystal tumblers from Swedish glassmaker Orrefors, the Console Concept is a perfect fit for the $106k S90.
“The art of Scandinavian design is all about enhancing the life experience,” says Volvo design VP Thomas Ingenlath. “Our distinctive approach to interior design aims to deliver a luxurious and calming experience.”
If the loungey backseat ever becomes more than a concept, it’d certainly be a contender for this list.
