“I can’t wait to fill out an application!”

That is not a thing people say very often, especially w/r/t automobiles (looking at you, DMV and ambiguously grinning used car dealer).

Today, though, let’s all make an exception.

Ford — as in the motor company — is now accepting applications from customers who want to purchase one of the 500 GT ultra-high-performance supercars that the automaker will produce in the next two years. It is the spiritual successor to the highly coveted original Ford GT, of which 4,038 were built and sold from 2005-2006.

Once approved, applicants will receive a “personalized purchase experience” while working with Ford’s new GT concierge service and the help of a dealership of their choosing.

While we don’t know why spending more time with a car dealer would be good, we do know know the limited edition 600+ HP supercars can be outfitted with eight exterior colors and seven stripe shades, as well as custom wheel and interior options.

The application process is open to residents of Canada, the United States, 12 European countries and five countries throughout the Middle East and Asia, but preference might be given to loyal Ford customers and current Ford GT owners, as those are listed as factors that will merit consideration.

“The purchase process for the Ford GT is as unique as our all-new supercar,” says Henry Ford III. “We’re prepared to receive a lot of applications. We expect to have to make some tough decisions.”

The 3.5-liter EcoBoost-equipped GT will have a starting price in the mid-$400,000s — excluding destination and delivery — and Ford is taking applications until May 12th at midnight.
