Finding beauty in the crumbling relics of the past—that’s been the passion of French photographer Thomas Jorion for much of his professional career. His latest project, a decade-long exploration of abandoned Italian mansions, is no different. His exhibit “Veduta” showcases the fading, but still stunning, grandeur and glory of the Mediterranean’s nation past.
As alluring as these images are, Jorion has taken care to avoid subjecting these sites to a steady stream of Instagrammers, by not revealing their exact locations. However, there are enough clues to figure out that most of them are found between Tuscany and Umbria in central Italy and the Lombardy region in the north of the country.
Jorion’s exhibit will be on display at London’s Somerset House from May 16 to May 19.
