In a rare change of pace, SNL kicked off with a cold open that targeted a political figure other than President Trump.
Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis returned to play former Democratic vice president Joe Biden, who is currently mired in a scandal over inappropriately being “touchy feely” towards women.
“Mr. Vice President, let’s discuss how to properly greet a woman,” says a consultant played by Kate McKinnon.
Sudeikis’ Biden retorts: “What about if during that handshake I tickle her palm a little bit?”
“That’s not great,” McKinnon answers. “I would say no tickling at all.”
Doubling down, Biden asks if he could do the “gorgeous lift that they do at the end of ‘Dirty Dancing.’”
“Who would you do that with?” asks the consultant.
“Hell, whoever is strong enough to pick me up,” he answers.
It was one of the few highlights on a tame episode hosted by Game of Thrones star Kit Harington; Sara Bareilles was the musical guest.
