Take your standard date night — dinner, drinks, maybe some live entertainment — and push it a little left-of-center. Little further. Almost there. Yep, got it. We’re sending you to Bellboys, Bears, and Baggage: a gonzo piece of immersive theater by the grand schemers at Redmoon Theater, opening Sunday.

Here’s your game plan:

The Dinner

If you haven’t been down to Dusek’s, now’s your chance. Located in historic Thalia Hall, this beer-centric Pilsen gem plates up culinary jams like summer flounder crudo and Kentucky-fried quail with foie gras cornbread. Window-shop the menu here.

The Show

A Redmoon Spring Spectacle filled with interactive art installations and at least one secret passageway, Bellboys is the brainchild of Blake Montgomery and Redmoon’s artistic director Jim Lasko.

Nutshell: it’s all inspired by Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. There’s love. There’s loss. And there’s a roving band of bears that represent chaos.

So part theater, part Redmoon-esque funhouse.

All in all, there are 20 different rooms and spaces, each lending its own whimsical environ. The play’s not meant to be linear, so feel feel free to wander and follow along as closely as you’d like. And should you find a corridor that’s good for necking — these eyes won’t judge you. Your tickets await.
