Minor Fête

We believe it was The Ramones who famously claimed “I wanna be sedated.”

What most don’t know is they were singing fondly of pork, succulent opiate of the BBQ game.

And now your carnivorous soul can be sedated, too, at Pig Mountain, an upstate festival of swine taking place August 24th, now selling tickets.

Once billed as a “punk rock show in a basement,” PM has blossomed into a full-scale hog assault, with a rogue’s gallery of New York City chefs converging on sleepy Narrowsburg, NY (two hours from Manhattan, give or take) for a day of bucolic Catskills revelry.

This year’s lineup will feature eats from 14 buzzed-over NYC restos, from Gramercy slice-of-Spain Casa Mono to UWS Italian eatery Corvo Bianco to TriBeCa food market All Good Things.

Each chef tackles one locally sourced hog. The porkers are roasted in slate-lined fire-pits, then carved and prepared according to the pit-master’s gustatorial whim.

Plus beer. Lots of beer.

In keeping with the fest’s heritage, live punk bands will be on hand to entertain, and Pig Mountain has a host of rustic lodging and activity options for those looking to “make a weekend out of it.”

You can buy tickets right this way.

Hurry, hurry, hurry. Before you go insane.
