For proof that the Japanese really enjoy their liquor, look no further than the name they gave their largest tasting event. Hint: it’s not called The Sobering Regret of Sake.
Raise a tiny shot glass to that enthusiasm when you grab a ticket to a preview tasting of The Joy of Sake at Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya, limited spaces available now.
An intimate walk-around tasting of 40+ of the world’s best sakes paired with specialty bites crafted for the event by Blue Ribbon, the preview tasting includes several junmai, ginjo, and daiginjo (the holy trinity of sake) varietals that aren’t available in the states, including:
- Shirakabegura: 15% ABV, with a well-balanced taste.
- Murai “Sugidama”: 14.5% ABV, fruity and lush.
- Tenzan “Jizake”: 14% ABV, dry, wrapped in a bamboo leaf.
The preview is August 29th and tickets are extremely limited, but a block has been set aside for InsideHook readers – so grab one while you still can.
Preview attendees can also purchase discounted tickets to Joy of Sake’s main event, a grand affair Sept. 20th at Chelsea’s Altman Building featuring 350+ sakes, expert tutorials, and bites from top restaurants including wd~50 and BONDST.
Either way, attendance is recommended – before you experience the sobering regret of being regretfully sober.
