If you’re going to relax at a spa, do it right — i.e., without Enya. Below, New York’s latest, well-appointed spas that cater to men.

Aire Ancient Baths

Modeled on the luxuriant bath houses of Ancient Rome, this just-opened, lantern-lit grotto offers thermal bath sessions in a series of specialized pools (e.g., warm, hot, and ice water), plus a stone and glass eucalyptus steam room, propeller jet bath, and salt water “floatarium.”

Post-soak, Aire also offers two and four-hand scented oil massages, hot tea and fresh juices. Coming soon: private soaking “rituals” for couples to bathe in red wine, champagne, or olive oil.

Moonshine

moonshine spa

Tucked away under Le Parker Meridien, this over-the-top masculine (but seriously professional) spa evokes a prohibition cocktail den crossed with a Turkish bazaar housed in a gold mine — rough wooden beams, glowing candles, ornate rugs, and velvet chairs, plus a waiting bottle of Stillhouse Moonshine to help you loosen up.

The menu is simple: facial, massage, or both, and masseuses tailor-make treatments to suit your specific needs. Moonshine also lets you pick from a massive library of playlists — so you can pick tracks that are truly relaxing, and not so “Enya face”.
