Leslie Jones seems to view the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel as particularly slimy.
The Saturday Night Live veteran took to Twitter on Saturday and Sunday to express her anger over the recently announced movie that follows the 1984 original — and apparently ignores the female-led reboot from 2016. Jones, of course, starred in that Paul Feige-directed comedy, which sparked some backlash, including misogynistic and racist social media trolling directed at her.
“So insulting. Like f—- us,” Jones tweeted on Saturday. “We dint count. It’s like something trump would do. (Trump voice)’Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers’ ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give f— I’m saying something!!”
A day later, Jones clarified: “… The point is if they make this new one with all men and it does well which it will. It might feel that ‘boys are better’ it makes my heart drop. Maybe I could have use different words but I’m allowed to have my feelings just like them.”
The new movie, due for a summer 2020 release, comes courtesy of Jason Reitman, the son of original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman.
