There are some things a man must try. Alder — the second restaurant by Wylie Dufresne — is one of those things. It’s also a thing that is closing at the end of the month. But for every closed door, an open window. This one’s called Goto, and it’s your new go-to. Herewith: how to pair ’em. You provide the dancing partner.
THE GEAR
Crafted from recycled and sustainably sourced materials, these sunnies look good and do good. Kicker: Woodzee donates a portion of all proceeds to a variety of charitable organizations. Win-win-win.

THE GRUB
Get ye to the Alder … while you can. The critically acclaimed gastropub will be shuttering at the end of August (though there are whispers on the wind of relocation from Chef Wylie Dufresne). The dress is casual, the eats contemporary. Modern, though distinctly American. Expect the greatest hits on the menu in the final weeks including Pigs in a Blanket, French Onion Soup Rings and the famed Burger with Beer Cheese.

THE CLOSER
Handsome and dark. Bar Goto, from Pegu Club alumnus, Kenta Goto, is straight sexing up the LES. The new Japanese/American haunt serves up nine boozy classics, each with an exquisite touch. For losing track of the hour, we recommend the Sakura Martini (complete with cherry blossom), the Plum Sazerac and the Watermelon Cucumber Cooler, deftly mixed with gin, lime and wasabi salt.
