Your correspondent is frequently asked what his favorite restaurants are.
Generally, people are interested in a new place. And that’s fine.
But lately he’s been directing folks to The Larchmont.
The new chef, Kevin Kathman, did time at French Laundry, and he brings with him some simple recipes and a love for molecular gastronomy.
When he makes scallops, he slices them razor-thin so they melt in your mouth, and he decorates the plate in micro-greens and a light truffle oil that’s pungent but not overpowering.

We made it a Dinner Plan, and inside we recommend some fresh occasion-appropriate gear and a new spot to grab a drink after.
Enjoy.
