Whether you fly the Union Jack or Old Glory, luxury automaker David Brown Automotive now has what you need to look trendy and patriotic on the road this fall.
Although this trio of new Speedback GTs has been dubbed the “Best of British” series, it’s all about the colors available: red (“Ruby Tuesday”), white (“White Knight”), and blue (“Blue Moon”).
The build of the car also has crossover taste to it as well: If you were standing 100 feet away and weren’t wearing your bifocals, you might swear that the Speedbacks looked a whole hell of a lot like the Aston Martin “DB” series—James Bond’s ride of choice. The three DBAs have even been serial numbered 003, 004, and 005, with an obvious tip of the cap to the famed British spy.
And they don’t do too bad on the road either: Each is stocked with a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine with 510bhp and 461 lb-ft of torque, and does 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph. Perfect for a Sunday drive—or an alpine car chase.
If you’re unfamiliar with the bespoke, Coventry, England–based automaker, David Brown rolled its first Speedback model off the production line in 2014. The car is unequivocally meant to mimic Aston’s DB5 and DB6 models, but built on a Jaguar platform. Per the company, five of the “British” series cars have been sold so far, and they’re awaiting new orders.
You can take your pick of the three different colors, but you’ll be paying the same for each: about $618,000 without taxes included. For more on David Brown Automotive, click here. Watch a teaser video on the tricolor series below.
