New year, they say, new you.
And the best way to a new you: new suit.
For those in the know, early January is one of the best times to cop a new two- or three-piece at a drastically reduced rate.
So we put together a little guide on what to grab and where to grab it.
But first, beware: sizes are gonna be varied and limited. Hence the rock-bottom prices.
If you act quickly and hit retail locations rather than just online (which, truth be told, you should be doing for suits anyway), you can flesh out your wardrobe in a big way with nary a wallet dent.
Here’s how:
Big box be damned — Bloomingdale’s is a January go-to for two key reasons:
-
Broad inventory means they carry a huge range of office workhorses like Hardy Amies, Canali and Armani.
-
More locations and bigger stock means increased chances of finding your elusive size.
Barney’s Madison flagship is the spot to grab more hip, night-on-the-town fare like plum corduroy from Etro, Varvatos puppytooth tweed and Band of Outsiders’ signature shrunken kits — all at more than 50% off.
Budget British
British label Reiss’s suits are killer go-betweens — that is, they work from the office to the bar to the restaurant. They also happen to hold an insane sale at their two NYC shops every January. This is where your correspondent cops at least one (if not two) rigs annually. Current favorite: a Glen Plaid three-piece showstopper for under $400.
