Jaguar launched its new E-Pace crossover with a 50-foot barrel roll in a production-spec E-Pace.
Stunt driver Terry Grant did the roll, setting a Guinness World Record for the “Furthest Barrel Roll in a Production Vehicle” in the process. It is the only production car to attempt this feat and took some serious skill and commitment by Grant.
The jump was computer-modeled before the real-life attempt, and the car was outfitted with a roll-cage, racing seat and a harness. Landing the jump required Grant to accelerate for 525 feet so that he could hit the launch ramp at a precise speed. While in the air, the driver experienced 5.5Gs of force.
Jaguar’s new E-Pace will start at $38,600 and features a new aluminum four-cylinder engine with up to 296 horsepower, a nine-speed ZF automatic, and all wheel-drive as standard.
