The Jetsons are coming back, and they’re coming back in a new way.
ABC is teaming up with producer Warner Bros. Television to develop a live-action multi-camera comedy based on the cartoon family. The Jetsons first aired in the 1960s and was the first program broadcast in color on the network.
The ABC’s take is based on the original animated series, which follows George, his wife Jane, daughter Judy and son Elroy as well as pooch Astro and robotic housekeeper Rosie. It is set 100 years in the future and told through a modern filter, writes The Hollywood Reporter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jack Rapke and Robert Zemeckis are executive producing. It will be written by Gary Janetti. Warner Bros. was behind the original Jetsons and is producing this new show alongside Nickleby Inc. and Compari Entertainment.
