The creators of the Honest Trailers comedy series wanted to increase their chances to win the 2017 Emmy for “Outstanding Short Form Variety Series,” so they got help from Michael Bolton and his friends.
And the singers came through — putting retro theme songs to modern TV shows like Stranger Things and Game of Thrones.
In the video, Bolton says he’ll help the team celebrate by recruiting some friends. Theme song queen Paula Cole came in with a Dawson’s Creek-inspired cover for The Handmaid’s Tale, while Brian McKnight created a Cheers-inspired tune for NBC’s hit show, This is Us. British pop singer Natasha Bedingfield fielded a song about friendship for Stranger Things.
Bolton steals the show though with his answer to the Game of Thrones theme song. The video include Bolton dressed in a fur coat. He makes fun of the epic size of the cast of the show and croons love isn’t just a “game of thrones.” Maybe producers should have cast him instead of Ed Sheeran….
