Oprah Winfrey said she would not be running for president in 2020 and said that she is not interested in pursuing public office.
“There will be no running for office of any kind for me,” Winfrey, a talk show host and entrepreneur, said on CBS This Morning, according to The Hill.
In September, Winfrey retweeted a column calling for her to run for president, saying “Thanks for your vote of confidence.” This fueled rumors that she might actually be interested in running.

The piece was written for the New York Post by John Podhoretz, and called her the Democratic Party’s “best hope” for 2020. He writes that she is “uniquely positioned, should she wish to commit herself, to seek the Democratic nomination for president,” according to The Hill.
However, Winfrey had already told The Hollywood Reporter in June that she would rule out running for public office.
