ESPN president John Skipper has announced another round of layoffs at the company. Skipper sent a memo Wednesday saying the company is laying off approximately 150 employees, according to USA Today.
The memo says that the majority of the eliminated positions are in studio production, digital content and technology, not in front-facing talent.
“We will continue to invest in ways which will best position us to serve the modern sports fan and support the success of our business,” Skipper wrote, according to USA Today.
Last month, Sporting News reported that ESPN would be making another round of layoffs. Anyone affected will receive severance pay, a 2017 bonus, and the continuation of health benefits, the memo says, USA Today reports. This is the third major round of layoffs at the company in the past 25 months. In Oct. 2015, ESPN let go of roughly 300 employees, and then they laid off another 100, including well-known NFL personalities and reporters such as John Clayton, Trent Dilfer and Ed Werder, back in April.
Skipper will continue at the helm of the network through 2021. He recently agreed to a contract extension with ESPN’s parent company, Disney.
