NBA Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul Jabbar believes that NFL players, as well as other professional athletes, should continue their protests against police brutality in the United States. He also disagrees with the idea that the protests are in any way unpatriotic. The six-time NBA champion said that the protests are creating a useful dialogue around long-neglected issues of race, and that athletes should continue to speak about issues that they care about, and use their power to “peacefully and effectively” change the situation. Abdul Jabbar has been a political activist since he was in college.
