At only 26-years-old, Nick Foles was thinking of retiring from the NFL. His experience with the St. Louis Rams in 2015 was so terrible he didn’t touch a football for eight months, writes Bleacher Report. He had been on the cusp of greatness in Philadelphia, with 119.2 passer rating and he had led the Eagles to a division title, a home playoff game and a lead with 4 minutes and 54 seconds left against the Saints. But the Saints still won, and Chip Kelly shipped Foles off to the Rams.On Dec. 10, the Eagles were probably also thinking of giving up when quarterback Carson Wentz was smashed in the end zone during a game in Los Angeles and was diagnosed with a torn ACL. But afterward, head coach Doug Pederson told reporters “this is the reason we went out and got Nick Foles.” He went on to throw four touchdown passes against the Giants. But fans are still unsure if Pederson is right and if Foles can pull it off. They will find out this Saturday when the Eagles become the first No. 1 seed to be an underdog in the divisional round since 1970. But the team believes in him. All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson told Bleacher Report, “There’s always negativity they try to put inside this locker room. We use it as motivation. We know what people think of us. We have the elements to our side—people will have to play up here. I’ve seen Nick do some big things. I think it’s about adjusting the game plan to what he does well. The capability’s there.”
