See the Northern Lights, spend time on the water and … never leave your home.
Quite a travel proposition. And one innovatively accomplished by luxury travel company Off the Map Travel — they of the unusual Northern Lights tours and adventures in wolf kissing — with their new Volda Floating Home vacation, a four-day, three-night cruise onboard a converted 1960s ferry.
And it’s quite the conversion: moored off the coast of Tromso Island in Norway, the refurbished houseboat sleeps 14 guests in 7 bedrooms. The floating abode features an open-plan living and kitchen area, two open lounging areas and a private lounge in the officer’s cabin. Plus there’s a personal hostess on board.
And obviously there are plenty of windows — all the better for hunting aurorae. Other items on the itinerary include a day of dog-sledding, some time for outdoor hot tubbing and a few trips into the nearby city.
The Floating Lodge is available from now to March and priced at just under $2,500, not including flights.
