Fox News has remained No. 1 in total day viewers for the week of October, reports TVNewser, and its shows made up the top 15 non-sports cable telecasts in total viewers.
The Tuesday edition of Hannity was the most-watched on-sports broadcast of the entire week, according to TVNewser, and ranked No. 7 overall. Hannity’s program was No. 1 across all of cable news, beating Rachel Maddow and fellow Fox News host Tucker Carlson in total viewers and age 25-54 demographic.
Fox News had 15 of the top 25 cable programs, including Fox & Friends, America’s Newsroom, Happening Now, The Five, and more.
However, Fox News was No. 2, behind ESPN. Thanks to Monday Night Football and College Football Prime Time programs, ESPN is back on top. The AL Wild Card game between the Twins and the Yankees was the second most-watched cable telecast last week, according to TVNewser, behind NFL’s Monday Night Football game of Redskins versus Chiefs.
However, ESPN does fall -5 percent in total prime time viewers in comparison to this time last year. Last year’s Monday Night Football game was NY Giants versus Vikings and the the NL Wild Card game with SF Giants versus Mets.
MSNBC was pushed out of the top five in prime time and landed at No. 6 in total prime time viewers and No. 4 in total day viewers across basic cable. TBS and FS1 both aired MLF playoff games, reports TVNewser, which probably helped bump MSNB down.
CNN finished No. 7 in total prime time viewers, but No. 5 in total day viewers, according to TVNewser.
Lou Dobbs had the most-watch business news schow for the 59th straight week with 333,000 viewers.
All cable news networks were down year-over-year, probably because the second presidential debate aired the same week last year.
