You may have heard that J.Crew is back. But it looks very different than it did at its peak 2010. With Noah NY founder Brenden Babenzian’s creative direction, the first collection feels fresh — when’s the last time you heard anyone say that about J.Crew? The brand brought back the Giant Chino, with its super wide leg opening, and it instantly sold out. They’ve also got rollneck sweaters, relaxed fitting Oxford cloth button downs, and straight fit denim with a higher rise all in ode to the brands OG years.
If you’ve been hesitant to pick up any new pieces, now would be a good time to take the plunge, as you can get up to 40% off certain items with the code SHOPFALL. The sale includes the latest outerwear, shirts, knitwear, pants and accessories.
There are hundreds of products to choose from but we’ve rounded up some of our favorite items from the new J.Crew below.
J.Crew Classic Relaxed-fit jean in resin rinse
This is a more modern and updated relaxed fit that sits at the waist and is roomy in the hip and thighs. Now you have a reason to dump all of those slim fit pants from yesteryear.
J.Crew Vintage Twill Shirt in Print
We recommend that you embrace a pop of color every now and again. This has a subtle paisley print that pairs well with a darker denim in a straight or relaxed fit.
J.Crew Heritage 14 oz. fleece cardigan sweater
Imagine someone combined your favorite cardigan and your favorite sweatshirt. Made from a 14-ounce cotton-polyester fleece, it’s heavy enough to keep you warm even during the chilliest fall days.
J.Crew Heritage cotton shaker-stitch crewneck sweater
A shaker stitch is thick but it has a unique stretchy and breathable feel to the material which is perfect for fall. Pick up one of these for a slouchy 80’s inspired fit.
J.Crew Unisex 1990 MacAlister boot in suede
It’s virtually impossible to make a desert boot look bad. It works with different pants whether you’re rocking cropped, baggy or slim-fit. And if you need a little inspiration just take a look at Steve McQueen.
J.Crew Single-pleat 10-wale corduroy pant
Pleats are back. Yeah, you heard me. We’re not out here rocking Gordon Gecko “Wolf of Wall Street” fits, but a nice tasteful pleat on corduroy pants hits the spot.
J.Crew Nordic sherpa fleece hooded jacket in tartan
A reliable fleece is a must-have especially if you can get it at a discount. This high-pile fleece has a tartan plaid design that adds just the right amount of color. We suggest you throw these on with a pair of those pleated cord pants or the relaxed fit dark denim.
J.Crew Nordic puffer vest with PrimaLoft
Anything inspired by vintage mountain gear gets a check in our book. It also has a recycled nylon shell to block that wind, and lightweight insulation made from plastic bottles. We’re also a fan of the dual zip and snap-closure. It’s always good to have options in outerwear.
J.Crew Heavyweight chamois workshirt
The Chamois shirt was developed to be wind-resistant, soft and durable. It was originally crafted for the outdoors but it works equally well in modern times as you commute to work. It has a similar texture and feel to moleskine or your favorite flannel.
J.Crew Heritage wool-blend baseball cap
Keep your dome covered with this wool-blend baseball cap that reminds us of Kendall Roy from Succession. It’s perfect if you’re looking for something more understated and tasteful. By the way if you want the Loro Piana Succession version you’ll have to cough up $455.
J.Crew Relaxed traditional-weight oxford shirt
A bona-fide classic in a more traditional 90’s inspired relaxed fit.
J.Crew 770 Straight-fit jean in black wash
We talked about the power of strong black and white staples for a transitional wardrobe in a previous story. While we strongly recommend you pick up white denim you can also style a few looks with a more washed-out black straight fit denim like these.
We've put in the work researching, reviewing and rounding up all the shirts, jackets, shoes and accessories you'll need this season, whether it's for yourself of for gifting purposes. Sign up here for weekly style inspo direct to your inbox.
