East meets West for Ralph Lauren’s collaboration with Hong Kong-based label CLOT. Dropping just in time for the Lunar New Year, the limited-edition capsule collection melds Ralph Lauren’s iconic Americana aesthetic with that of CLOT’s heavily inspired Chinese designs, seamlessly bringing together two seemingly opposing approaches to design into one cohesive collection.

CLOT co-founder Edison Chen consistently seeks to bridge the gap between the East and the West, and manages to do so in his reimagining of some of Ralph Lauren’s most recognizable designs. Buttons on the heritage brand’s familiar oxford shirts are swapped out for frog button closures, detailing found in many traditional Chinese garments, and are integrated into other pieces in the collection like the zip-up hoodie and polo shirt. Also peppered throughout the collection are several pieces emblazoned with CLOT’s signature Silk Royale pattern, further paying homage to the culture and influences behind the brand.

The collection includes a variety of items, from a windbreaker jacket to chinos (with red Royale jacquard trim along the legs) and sneakers, outfitted in blush suede with red and blue accents. It’s the same Ralph Lauren pieces you know and love (and are recognizable to others as such, thanks to the signature Pony embroidered in red on each design) just now representative not only of Western heritage but Eastern, too, managing to offer modernity through traditional touches. Consider it the new vanguard of classics.
