What makes a good spring sneaker? For starters, something lightweight — considering the toll your feet endured lugging around those burdensome winter boots, you don’t want a pair that proves to be a hindrance. And then there’s the subject of color. Your mind is wont to go white as the ideal spring sneaker, and while it’s a fail-safe choice, there are other, more fun, options to be found.

The arrival of the new season should be cause for celebration, and what more appropriate away to ring in the warmer months than by sporting a pair of cool kicks? It also yields the opportunity to experiment with one’s style now that the weather allows more room for it, but in a way that doesn’t feel like too much of a commitment. You can opt to build an outfit around a pair of sneakers but you can also add them to an already existing outfit to elevate the look.

While we’re fans of the classic white sneaker, this spring we think you should step ever-so-slightly out of your comfort zone and consider a pair that’s just as seasonally appropriate but a little more exciting. Below you’ll find 15 sneakers to consider this spring.

Nike Air Max 270 React

It’s no secret we’re admirers of this style from Nike, and we’re pretty mesmerized by this iridescent iteration. People will have a hard time taking their eyes off them.

New Balance Made in US 998

If a shoe were to encompass spring, it would be this New Balance sneaker. The colors are subtle and soothing but still noticeable enough, without being too flashy. I mean, just look at those mint green accents.

Tretorn Nyliteplus

Who doesn’t love a Tretorn? If you’re still having trouble straying from the white sneaker, the Nyliteplus is the perfect happy medium, thanks to the green design on the shoe’s outside.

Vans Neon Old Skool

Maybe you’ve had enough of white and neutral shoes and are looking for something that really makes a statement. If that sentiment is applicable to you, these neon orange Old Skools from Vans are just what you need.

Nike Cortez Basic

Nike’s Cortez has been experiencing something of a renaissance these past few months and have now appeared to become a staple in many wardrobes. We’re partial to the OG colorway for its retro aesthetic.

adidas Continental 80

The sneaker market is populated with plenty of white sneakers, but what about ones that are off-white? Some of us like things that aren’t so pristine and squeaky clean, and these adidas’ Continental 80s are as classic as their true white counterparts, just not so blinding.

Veja Esplar White Menthol

Another pair for if you’re still on the fence about committing to a non-white sneaker, the Veja Esplar is sleek and minimal with just a hint of blue.

Nike White & Grey Air Max 90

When you think spring, you probably think pastels, but neon green should be considered just as much of a spring shade. If you’ve always fancied yourself a sneakerhead, or aspired to that status, then make it official with these Air Max 90s.

Common Projects Achilles Low Sneaker

I know what you’re thinking — pink sneakers? But come on, it’s 2020 people, and these are such a light shade of pink that they’re practically bordering on beige or nude.

Converse OG Pro Leather

It’s time you broaden your Converse horizons beyond their classic Chucks in favor of a style that while maybe lesser known, is just as iconic. Converse’s OG Pro Leather sneaker got its start on the basketball court in the 70s, and is just as cool now as it was then, if not more so.

Greats The Royale

The color grey is often overlooked when it comes to sneakers, and it’s time we give the grey sneaker its well deserved dues. Much like a white pair, these grey Royale sneakers will go with anything.

Nike Killshot 2 Sneakers

No list of spring sneakers would be complete without the Nike Killshot. They’re a shoe that’s gained a cult following, and for good reason. They go with practically anything and it doesn’t seem they’ll fall out favor anytime soon.

SeaVees Legend Sneaker Standard

If you’re really feeling the spring spirit, you gotta buy a pair of SeaVees. The brand was conceived as shoes ideal for the beach-bar, so these sneakers are outfitted with a “power-grip” outsole that makes walking on sand easier.

KOIO Capri Rose Cloud

Yes, another pink pair of sneakers, because why not? Plus, these are suede, and the gum sole provides a nice contrast to the softness of the rest of the sneaker.

Vans Sunshine Authentic

There’s really no other word to describe these sneakers than fun. Despite the multiple colors that normally might clash, the colorblocking design makes them feel cohesive. All you need is a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt, and you’re good to go.
