One of the best parts of spring: bare ankles.
You wear the loafer. The boat shoe. The espadrille.
But if you really want to be of-the-moment (not to mention gloriously comfortable), you wear the Sabah.
And the best man to get a pair of Sabahs from is The Sabah Dealer, Mickey Ashmore.
For the uninitiated, Sabahs are colorful, hand-stitched calfskin slippers with a sturdy buffalo leather sole.
The more you wear them, the more comfortably snug they get on your feet. They are amazing.
As for The Dealer, he’s a bit of a globetrotting mystery. No shop. No online retail. To get a pair of his shoes, you just gotta know Mickey.
Luckily he’s a bonzer fella and would love to meet you.
First, check out his Instagram and Tumblr. Then, just email him and you can pop by the “Sabah House,” Ashmore’s East Village office-slash-hangout spot. There you’ll get sized up, pick your colors and have your pair made-to-order.
The Dealer’s crew also does “Sabah Sundays,” a salon of sorts at the Sabah House where you can enjoy cocktails, live music and stimulating convo.
Other things that go well with spring.
