Watch a Drag-Racing Electric Van Make Kitty Litter of a Tesla, Ferrari

Consider us e-van-gelized

So a Tesla Model S, a Ferrari California T and an electric van walked onto a racetrack …

If you’re expecting the van to end up as the butt of this joke, you’re wrong.

Because this van’s name is Edna, and she’s quicker than she looks.

As a way to introduce the all-electric, 900-horsepower prototype to the automotive world, e-car startup Atieva headed out to the track for a friendly competition against the 553-HP California T and the 762-HP Model S. And despite being named after every great aunt ever, the Edna — which is built on a Mercedes Metris platform and boasts 0-60 time of 3.01 seconds — beat the Tesla and Ferrari like a pair of rented mules.

Behold:

“Under Edna’s skin are two electric motors, two sets of power electronics, two gearboxes, one battery capable of storing 87 kWh of energy and outputting over 900 horsepower, plus all of the software to make the components play nicely together,” according to Atieva’s blog.

Bet she plays a pretty mean Scrabble, too.
