Every man’s wardrobe needs periodic replenishment — even if that means parking in a deck. Below, we give you two new menswear emporiums, one pop-up and a fresh pair of kicks. Gear up.
Pop Up Flea
Originally started in New York City, the Pop Up Flea (“a short term shop for long term goods”) is stopping through LA for the first time ever … at the Grove. Yes. There. But you don’t have to leave the parking deck: it’s on the 8th floor. The excellently curated selection of menswear — from Deus Ex Machina to Harry’s to local shops like Wittmore — is well worth the trip. Plus: Fritzi Dog and Luke’s Lobster will be on hand doling out snacks. It’s only open this weekend, so hurry on over.
Based in L.A. but utilizing small-scale producers in global markets like Argentina and India, IOAN makes a sustainable line of clothing with good looks and better intentions. We like the cabrales — a casual slip-on shoe from wool farmed and woven in Mexico — and these indigo shirts from India.
Hemingway & Sons
Hemingway & Sons is the new menswear shop from the guys behind design shop Hemingway & Pickett. With brands like Taylor Stitch and Jungmaven on the racks, expect a woodsy, casual vibe.
Our Favorite Shop
Technically not new, Our Favorite Shop (their declaration; not ours) is the homebase of Clae, a local shoe company that just dropped a pair of casual moccasin/runner hybrids — aka moc runners — that’ll pair well with all the above.
