The 2017 New Establishment Hall of Fame list is out in Vanity Fair.
The New Establishment Hall of Fame was created in 2008. The annual list is a ranking of those figures who are “setting the global agenda and leading the Age of Innovation,” writes Vanity Fair.
Graydon Carter coined the term “New Establishment” to indicate the “influential and intersecting worlds of technology, media, entertainment, politics, and beyond, which are shifting and shaping the global conversation,” according to Vanity Fair, who has been tracking the New Establishment since 1994.
This year’s list of 100 people includes Jay-Z, Mary Meeker, Lucian Grainge, Carolina Herrera and Amancio Ortega.
Athletes on the list this year include NBA’s Lebron James, who was named No. 1 basketball player for the fifth year in a row by Sports Illustrated, and MLB’s Bryce Harper, who is expected to receive a new contract worth $400 million.
Previous recipients include Tom Hanks, Leslie Moonves, Charlie Rose, Oprah Winfrey, Jimmy Buffett, Mick Jagger, George Lucas, Diane Sawyer, Bill and Melinda Gates, and Barbara Walters.
