Busting rocks. Turning the soil. Pulling weeds. If backaches have anything to say, it’s man was not created to till the Earth.
Robots, however, are built to do that. Literally.
Kick a buck to the Tertill, a weeding robot from the Roomba inventor, designed to keep invasive greens in your garden at bay.
Tertill (a play on turtle) is solar-powered, waterproof and makes its rounds in four-wheel drive. You need to have a barrier to keep it in place, but once it’s up — you do nothing. It detects which plants are weeds by height and decapitates them with a plastic blade.
Now, before you yell, “weeds need to be pulled up by the roots!” know this: Tertill works all day, every day. So, every time a weed resprouts, it’s severed, which eventually kills the pesky thing by depleting its nutrients. Translation: you don’t need pesticides.
The only downside: having to find a new chore for your kids.
