Where you gonna put your million-dollar whisky? In your belly, of course.
But you’re certainly not gonna let it hang out unprotected in your home bar until then.
Ideally, you’d place it in a safe, but one that still publicly showcases all your prized spirits. And that’s the idea behind the startup Whisky Vault, a Taiwan-based company that handcrafts booze cabinets with luxury safe features.
As founder Todd Lawrence (an L.A. transplant) notes, the cabinets are built for “whisky collectors who were looking for a secure place to show their collection without having to worry about bottles going missing or accidentally being opened by drunk friends.”
The cabinets feature steel-plate construction, a vault door with three 25mm locking bolts, a machined aluminum tri-spoke handle, interior LED lights and a UL-certified electronic lock system. And, for protection and display purposes, a bulletproof window.
So no one’s gonna grab or shoot your whiskey. And at over 300 lbs, nobody’s gonna run off with one of these vaults, either.
Although an Indiegogo launch is set for December, it appears you can order the Whisky Vault directly through the company’s website, with prices starting at $6,000 — if you think about it, a real bargain in today’s high-roller whisky world.
