The video below proves that 2016 wasn’t all that bad. Film editor Louis Plamondon, who goes by “Sleepy Skunk” on YouTube, created a mashup of 282 trailers released in 2016. The six-minute highlight reel, divided into three parts features everything from critically-acclaimed Jackie to the surprisingly awesome 10 Cloverfield Lane. (You’ll recognize a few more that RealClearLife tipped you off on before they hit theaters.)
Taking about a month to finish, it’s a passion project for its editor. “I do it in November, but I think about it all year long,” notes Plamondon on his blog. He describes the editing process as a game of musical chairs, swapping in one clip for another throughout. “I try to keep this yearly exercise fresh and interesting for myself, which can hopefully translate into sustained enthusiasm from [the audience].” Watch his trailer supercut below.
If you’re wondering, here’s a list of all the films featured in the mashup, along with their associated time stamp (courtesy of Plamondon).
And no, this isn’t his first mashup: Here are his supercuts for 2015, 2014, 2013, and 2012. You can find out more about the mashups on his blog (including a scene-by-scene breakdown of the 2015 supercut) here.
