We’re not safe yet. Pennywise the Dancing Clown will be back to terrorize audiences and haunt your nightmares in September 2019. New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. announced a sequel to It that will hit theaters, including Imax locations, Sept. 6, 2019, reports The Hollywood Reporter

The recent film adaptation of Stephen King’s book became the top-grossing horror film of all time, not adjusting for inflation, and broke numerous other records. The R-rated film earned $266.1 million domestically and $478.1 million globally to date, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which helped the box office come back a little from a brutal summer.

Gary Dauberman will write the screenplay for the sequel, and director Andy Muschietti will return as well, along with producers Barbara Muschietti, Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The scary tale follows a group of friends who band together to defeat a terrifying demon that haunts their small town, first as kids and then as adults. According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line structured its adaptation, so the first film of It focused on the kids and is set in the past. The sequel will be set in the present, but will contain flashbacks, so the same group of kids will be seen again.
