One Amsterdam, Netherlands–based design firm wants to make the cardboard house—or as they call it, “Wikkelhouse”—the future of easy living. Designed and developed over four years by creative collective Fiction Factory, Wikkelhouse is constructed from 24 layers of cardboard wrapped around a mold and stuck together by eco-friendly superglue. The exterior is finished with waterproof, breathable foil and wood paneling as well. Marketed as a getaway home, guest house, or office space, the Wikkelhouse can be extended with additional modular segments. Not to mention that if you want out, it is 100 percent recyclable.

Wikkelhouses currently list for about $28,000 a piece. At this point, Wikkelhouse is only available in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, the U.K., and Denmark. But the company is looking to expand across the Atlantic. Take a look at the interior of the house below, and watch a short video on its construction. For more on the Wikkelhouse, click here.
