Maine is known for a lot of things. Lobsters. Lobster fishermen. Lobster festivals.
Oh, and some of the finest craftsmanship in the country, as showcased by the boutique retailer Seawall, online now.
“You don’t need duck boots and lobster rolls to get down with what we’re doing,” says Seawall. The proof’s in the store highlights: waxed canvas and scarred leather totes, a series of natural soaps and antioxidant elderberry syrups, hand-formed wooden bowls and spice ramekins, and the shop’s signature eight-button Unmatched button-down shirts (cut and hand-sewn in-state from Japanese fabrics).
Later this fall will bring a range of jackets, sweaters and accessories from local knitters. But if you can’t wait that long to embrace the state, Seawall also sells a terrarium of moss culled from Maine’s mid-coast region.
Maybe not the best way to enjoy a little flavor of the state.
