From October 24th to the 29th, the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates will march to the beat of international design. Over those six days, festival-goers visitors can discover numerous exhibitions, conferences, and workshops. Dubai will be transformed by 15 public installations by renowned international, regional, and local designers. Here is a rundown of the events that should not be missed.
Abwab
The popular exhibition—featuring creative talent from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region—is returning to the design festival. This year, Abwab will showcase new work from Algeria, Bahrain, India, Iraq, Palestine, and the United Arab Emirates. Housed in a cluster of six pavilions, the exhibition is centered around the theme of human senses.

Bernar Venet Solo Exhibition
This is French artist Bernar Venet’s first ever solo exhibition in the region. It will act as an introduction to his work based on “variations of the line.” The main exhibit will be a 21-foot-tall monumental sculpture, installed at the entrance to the gallery. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view new steel sculptures from the “Arc,” “Angles” and “GRIB” series, and a selection of works on paper.

Junglemania
To mark the opening of its new showroom, Super Future Design Showroom is creating an ephemeral botanical installation, which will provide the setting for furniture from Italian brand Moroso’s M’Afrique Collection. The African-inspired furniture line is the work of such noted designers as Tord Boontje, Patricia Urquiola and Sebastian Herkner.

20 Icons of French Design
From Philippe Starck to Jean Prouvé, and from Pierre Paulin to the Bouroullec brothers, this exhibition presents 20 highly influential pieces of French design produced between the 1920s and today.

Tom Dixon Pop-Up
For the first time in the Middle East, Tom Dixon is presenting a pop-up store, where visitors can experience and purchase lighting pieces by the British designer, as well as a selection of furniture.
