You probably know the late British rock-and-roll legend Joe Cocker as much for his contorted facial expressions and onstage gesticulations—John Belushi did a famous impression, including on at least one occasion with the actual Joe Cocker—as you do his long string of international hits, most famously his cover of The Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends.” (It hit No. 1 in the U.K. in 1968, and found a second life as the theme song to ’80s TV show The Wonder Years.)

It turns out Cocker—who scored a top 10 single in the U.S. in 1974, with “You Are So Beautiful”—had a major taste for the American highlife. So much so that one of his properties that’s for sale pretty much puts to shame (or at least matches) every other house RealClearLife has ever written about in terms of its opulence.

Cocker and his wife set up shop in 1994 in what is now known as the “Mad Dog Ranch,” a 240-acre property nestled in the Colorado Rockies, a short drive away from ski resorts Aspen and Telluride, as well as Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Of course, an Englishman living in one of America’s greatest mountain ranges is going to bring the creature comforts of his home country with him: At the center of the sprawling property is an English Tudor–style manor, with seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a nearly 16,000-square-foot private guest suite. Inside, a formal dining room accommodates 18 guests, and the house’s billiard room (a.k.a. man cave) includes a full bar. The master suite is a staggering 1,500 square feet, with a stone fireplace, spa-like bath, his/her walk-in closets, a coffee bar, and private balcony.

But that’s not all: The grounds also include a seven-stall barn with turnouts, a silo, and an 80-acre irrigated pasture (were you to want to raise cattle or sheep or horses). The yard also includes two fully outfitted greenhouses (for planting whatever’s legal in Colorado) and an outdoor veggie garden.

The ranch is up for auction here, and according to Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, looks to fetch at least $7 million. Take a look at the home below. At the very bottom, watch Cocker’s famous Beatles cover performed live at the Woodstock Festival.
