This luxury Marrakesh estate is ripped straight from the pages of One Thousand and One Arabian Nights, and it took longer than that to build. Thirteen hundred Moroccan craftsmen spent three years constructing the Fez Zeliges, with finely chiseled cedar wood ceilings and intricate moldings. Built from old blueprints of the Andalusian architectural masterpiece, the 60,000-square-foot villa is an exact replica of The Alhambra, a Moorish palace in Spain.
The villa stretches across 11 acres in the palm oasis, on Marrakesh’s outskirts in Palmeraie. Boasting eight suites, the palace also comprises a study, an opulent dining room, two spacious living rooms, and an indoor pool. The property’s true highpoint is its exterior, which is so decadent and finely manicured, it has a historic charm normally bestowed by decades of use, much like the Alhambra itself.
Aside from the main house, the property features a pool house, luxurious hammam house (or steam room), and ample staff quarters. The property’s fine flora is expertly manicured and includes a rose garden, bamboo forest, cactus garden, orange garden, connecting palm tree paths, numerous fountains, and reflecting pools.
While the listing from Kensington Luxury Properties notes that the cost is available upon request, the home was reportedly placed on the market in 2014 for $75 million. Find out more via Christie’s International Real Estate’s affiliate here. Enjoy a visual preview of the estate below.
