Famed photo agency Magnum Photos and photography site LensCulture have teamed up for the second year in a row to recognize the best photographers around the globe.
The twelve winners of the Magnum and LensCulture Photography Awards were selected from all corners of the world and cover a diversity of subjects. Documentary series winner Nick Hannes’s project focused on the culture of the elite in Dubai, while portrait series winner Lissa Rivera created stunning portraits exploring contemporary notions of gender and its narratives in today’s society.
Awards were given out for series and single images in six categories: Street, Portrait, Photojournalism, Open, Fine Art, and Documentary. The 12 winners from this year will recieve $27,000 in cash awards and will have the opportunity to participate in a Magnum photographer’s workshop somewhere in the world. Their work will also be shown in a digital exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery in London later this year and photography festivals worldwide.
