Lin-Manuel Miranda Reveals “Hardest 10 Seconds” of His Life

Things got tricky on the set of "Mary Poppins Returns."

Emmy, Tony, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize winner Lin-Manuel Miranda costars in Mary Poppins Returns — the sequel to the 1964 Disney classic Mary Poppins — and is dishing about his filming experience.

Miranda, known for his Broadway smash “Hamilton,” plays Jack the lamplighter opposite Emily Blunt, who portrays the title role in Mary Poppins Returns. According to The Huffington Post, the sequel has received near universal praise from critics. But that doesn’t mean making the family film was a breeze.

On a recent appearance on The Ellen Show, Miranda opened up about the most difficult part of filming Poppins. “There’s one scene in this movie where I light a lamp, ride a bike, steal an apple from a cart, throw it to an orphan child, all while singing in a Cockney accent,” he told Ellen. “That moment is the hardest 10 seconds of my life.”

Mary Poppins Returns flies into theaters December 19, 2018.
